What we do

Five pillars, one mandate

AWA-AFRICA holds a dual mandate: respond to emergencies now, and build the systems that make the next emergency survivable.

GBV Case Management, Risk Mitigation and SRHR

Survivor-centred case management, GBV risk mitigation, psychosocial support, legal referrals and safe spaces in displacement settings alongside maternal health and reproductive rights.

Women’s Empowerment and Economic Resilience

Village Savings and Loan Associations, vocational training, microgrants and support for women-led enterprise.

Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion

Grassroots peace dialogues, trauma healing and reconciliation, and youth leadership in local peace processes.

Education in Emergencies and Development

Accelerated learning for out-of-school children, school rehabilitation, teacher training and advocacy against early marriage.

Climate Action and Disaster Risk Reduction

Survivor-centred case management, GBV risk mitigation, psychosocial support, legal referrals and safe spaces in displacement settings alongside maternal health and reproductive rights.
